- 250g beef, cubed
- 3-4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion
- 2 green peppers
- 1 red pepper
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon red pepper paste
- 2 cups chickpeas
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Water for cooking
- Optional: pinch of cumin for reducing gas
Instructions
- Prepare chickpeas (ahead):
- Soak chickpeas in hot water for 3-4 hours or overnight
- Cook in pressure cooker for 15 minutes or until tender
- Cook the meat:
- Place beef in pot and cover with water (2 fingers above)
- Boil for 20-25 minutes
- Remove foam that forms on top
- Strain meat and reserve cooking liquid
- Prepare vegetables:
- Heat oil in separate pot
- Sauté chopped onions until translucent (1-2 minutes)

- Add tomato and pepper paste, cook 1-2 minutes
